Photography is the documentation of life, once that shutter has clicked, the moment has passed and history is made. Some may be familiar with project 365, a simple concept, take a photograph everyday for 365 days. This blog is an extension of the project; the goal is to keep photographing every day, who knows how long? It is an excellent archive to look back on, see how things change. Change can be subtle, such as different coloured flowers being planted each year to a changing landscape with buildings being demolished and new ones built. This blog archives life’s diversity and my encounters.

2018 Week 02 Photographs
By Corey Lablans Photography
(33rd Week, Year 5 – 1687 days – 1 missed)

2018 01 08 – I am standing on the ice road at Voyageurs National Park in northern Minnesota; this is the first ice road that I have been on. The ice road extends 7 miles from the Rainy Lake Visitor Center to Diamond Island.

(Nikon D7000 w 80-400 f4.5-5.6 @80mm f4.5 1/2500th I.S.O. 400)

2018 01 09 – I just finished unbolting the positive connector to my car’s battery as I get ready to replace it. It went pretty well and the new battery is working.

(Nikon D7000 w 17-35 f2.8 @17mm f5 1/40th I.S.O. 640)

2018 01 10 – Myself and a co-worker hauled these boxes, full of crushed rock samples, to the core logging shack today in preparation to ship for further analysis.

(Nikon D7000 w 70-200 f2.8 @86mm f4 1/400th I.S.O. 2000)

2018 01 11 – A fully loaded haul truck makes its way up the main ramp towards the mill. These haul trucks can carry up to 220 tones of material ranging from ore to overburden.

(Nikon D7000 w 70-200 f2.8 @105mm f4 1/320th I.S.O. 500)

2018 01 12 – Steam fills the cold crisp air as a small dozer clears the roadway in front of the mill. Temperatures reached a chilly -39 degrees Celsius.

(Nikon D7000 w 70-200 f2.8 @135mm f4 1/6400th I.S.O. 160)

2018 01 13 – Steam billows out the back of a loaded haul truck filled with overburden. Extreme cold temperatures have made work a little more difficult but things don’t stop.

(Nikon D7000 w 70-200 f2.8 @116mm f4.5 1/1000th I.S.O. 200)

2018 01 14 – Haulers, dozers, loaders and shovels work away in the pit on a snowy day.
