Photography is the documentation of life, once that shutter has clicked, the moment has passed and history is made. Some may be familiar with project 365, a simple concept, take a photograph everyday for 365 days. This blog is an extension of the project; the goal is to keep photographing every day, who knows how long? It is an excellent archive to look back on, see how things change. Change can be subtle, such as different coloured flowers being planted each year to a changing landscape with buildings being demolished and new ones built. This blog archives life’s diversity and my encounters.

2018 07 30 – Crepuscular rays shine out from behind billowing cumulus clouds in Blackhawk, Ontario.

2018 07 31 – Trays are made up for collecting rock fragments. These fragments are used to make a crude geological map of the blast patterns.

2018 08 01 – The Mackinac Bridge stands out at night. Built in 1957, it is the fifth largest suspension bridge in the world.

2018 08 02 – A view of me driving along highway 401 near Bowmanville, Ontario as I finish up the last leg of my road trip home (Fort Frances, Ontario to Kingston, Ontario).

2018 08 04 – People examine mineral specimens while at the 56th annual Rockhound Gemobree in Bancroft, Ontario.

2018 08 05 – A couple make their way through the fountain at Nathan Phillips Square in downtown Toronto, while many others in the background enjoy the Toronto sign. There were many people at the square celebrating the weekend’s Indian Festival.

2018 07 23 – It is a beautiful evening in International Falls.  I cross over Monday nights to play Cribbage at the Elk.

2018 07 24 – I’m preparing some vegetables to make a vegetable medley. A mix of potatoes, onions and Brussels sprouts mixed with oil, salt and pepper, and then cooked in the oven for 40 minutes.

2018 07 25 – There is a lot of overburden at the mine that needs to be removed to expose the rich silver and gold rock below.

2018 07 27 – The setting sun reflects off Caliper Lake in Nester Falls, Ontario. The engineering department booked the group campsite at the provincial park for the weekend.

2018 07 16 – Drills are busy at work at the bottom of the pit. The pit has grown quite a bit in size since I started in December (check out December 17, 2017 photo).

2018 07 17 – Beautiful cumulus clouds fill the sky above the Barron Site at work.

2018 07 18 – The Fort Frances mill announced its permanent closure in 2014, this is one of their plaques hanging on the perimeter fence.

2018 07 19 – Teko enjoys the water along the shoreline of Mission Island Marsh Conservation Area in Thunder Bay.

2018 07 20 – A few holofoil lands to add to my collection. Looking through the lands at Thunder Games and Gifts I was able to find a few, the one on the far left centre was a good find.

2018 07 21 – Participants in the Festival of India lead the dance parade at Marina Park along Thunder Bay’s waterfront. The festival highlights many of India’s vibrant culture through art, dance and food.

2018 07 22 – A coffee mug that I bought from the Salvation Army Thrift Store. The language spoken by minions is actually a combination of English, French, Spanish and Italian with elements of Russia and Korean.

2018 07 09 – I am enjoying the evening watching television and enjoying some ice cream. Ice cream is definitely one of my weaknesses.

2018 07 10 – A completed line on my OLG BINGO ticket. This is the first ticket I have won on in awhile.

2018 07 11 – Dyno (yellow cones) cones outline a prepared pattern ready for blasting while a drill works on some holes further in the background.

2018 07 12 – A drill waits for an operator along the northern wall. This drill has been working on pre-shear holes, holes that separate the blast patterns from the wall.

2018 07 13 – I am picking up broken stakes; these are stakes that did not pass the test.

2018 07 14 – Drills are busy at work on the 250 bench. A lot of the material coming from these benches is high grade and medium grade ore.
