Photography is the documentation of life, once that shutter has clicked, the moment has passed and history is made. Some may be familiar with project 365, a simple concept, take a photograph everyday for 365 days. This blog is an extension of the project; the goal is to keep photographing every day, who knows how long? It is an excellent archive to look back on, see how things change. Change can be subtle, such as different coloured flowers being planted each year to a changing landscape with buildings being demolished and new ones built. This blog archives life’s diversity and my encounters.

2017 01 23 – Puzzle pieces form the mouth of a border collie as a puzzle comes closer to completion at my friend’s house. It is believed the first jigsaw puzzle was created in 1767.

2017 01 28 – Trish moves a figure onto the board while playing Carcassonne, a tile-based German-style board game that was release in 2000.

2017 01 29 – The silhouette of a lone thistle stands in a field at Lemoine Point Conservation Area. The word thistle is a common name used for a group of flowering plants with sharp prickles, typically in the family Asteraceae.

2017 01 19 – Three different Isotelus trilobites line the front of my Ordovician display. The left one was found near our house in Kingston, the middle roller was found in Picton and the right one comes from Bowmanville.

2017 01 09 – Fudge fills in between the frosty peaks of vanilla ice cream in a Nestle Sundae. According to Nestle’s website, they are made in London, Ontario.

2017 01 10 – A person makes their way along Johnson Street as blizzard conditions take over the city.

2017 01 11 – Kingston’s City Hall is reflected in a puddle in Confederation Park. Puddles were everywhere as the previous day’s blizzard turned to rain throughout the night.

2017 01 12 – A Pileated Woodpecker (Hylatomus pileatus) seeks out food in a tree at Lemoine Point Conservation area in Kingston’s west end. It is the largest North American woodpecker, with the Great Slaty Woodpecker in Southeast Asia being the largest in the world.

2017 01 13 – Queen’s Gael #13, Veronika Lavergne and Ryerson Rams #12, Kellie Ring go for the ball after it was knocked during a regular season OUA game. A close game from the start, Queen’s pulled ahead for the win in overtime 79-75.

2017 01 14 – James gets Cool Whip splattered in his face during a fun night of games.

2017 01 02 – Branches are silhouetted against the last light of the setting sun and clouds near the Glenora Ferry in Picton, Ontario.

2017 01 03 – Two people make their way along Ontario Street in downtown Kingston, as a Colorado low delivers a full day of rain to Southern Ontario.

2017 01 04 – St. John Ambulance First Aid Reference Guide, along with triangle bandages sits on a desk while taking Standard Fist Aid, CPR level A and AED. The two-day course covers the main medical situations one may encounter.

2017 01 05 – People fill up their cars at a gas station in Kingston. Prices for gas went up at least 4.3 cents per litre, as Ontario’s cap-and-trade program took effect as of January 2017. Gas in Kingston rose by about 10 cents when it took effect.

2017 01 07 – Jim lifts up a snowmobile to show some of its mechanism such as the snowmobile’s slide suspension while teaching a one day handling course. The course covers a range of topics from minor repairs to preparation safety.
