Photography is the documentation of life, once that shutter has clicked, the moment has passed and history is made. Some may be familiar with project 365, a simple concept, take a photograph everyday for 365 days. This blog is an extension of the project; the goal is to keep photographing every day, who knows how long? It is an excellent archive to look back on, see how things change. Change can be subtle, such as different coloured flowers being planted each year to a changing landscape with buildings being demolished and new ones built. This blog archives life’s diversity and my encounters.

2016 03 14 – Numerous pairs of hands cover a dissected pigeon, as one person tries to tear out the sternum. The sternum is modified breastbone acting as the main attachment for flight muscles.

2016 03 15 – A silhouette of hydro and telephone lines behind Botterel Hall, Queen’s University.

2016 03 16 – A cockatiel hides amongst a tree at Breakwater Park in Kingston, Ontario; native to Australia.  This was someone’s pet that escaped. After taking it to the humane society, the owner was reunited.

2016 03 17 – Students from Queen’s University celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on Aberdeen Street. The original colour of St. Patrick is blue, after the blue vestment he wore.

2016 03 18 – My earth ring sits on top of a sapphire sample provided by Brad Wilson, one of the many mineral samples being studied in GEOL452. The earth ring is similar to the iron ring, a symbol and reminder for those in geology to conduct ethical practices.

2016 03 20 – A pigeon walks along the Murney Tower moat wall. Some pigeons are trained for racing and can reach top speeds of 140 km/h.

2016 03 07 – People make their way along Level 500 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre south building during PDAC. The convention is the largest mining convention in the world attracting approximately 30,000 individuals.

2016 03 08 – Various Queen’s University staff, students and alumni listen to a speaker during the annual Queen’s event on Tuesday night during the PDAC Convention in Toronto.

2016 03 01 – A thin section from a peridotite xenolith is about to go into the scanning electron microscope (SEM). Chemical compositions can be determined by element excitation by x-rays.

2016 02 22 – Two students make their way along the path towards Theological Hall at Queen’s University. Theological Hall is the third oldest building at Queen’s, constructed in 1880.

2016 02 23 – Blood oranges are well known for their crimson moro. Anthocyanins, a water-soluble vacuolar pigment or flavonoid, produces the crimson colour.

2016 02 24 – Temperatures hovered around the zero mark for the majority of the day producing freezing rain that lightly coated trees and other surfaces.

2016 02 25 – Melt water runs over a couple of fallen oak leaves as temperatures remained above zero for the majority of the day.

2016 02 26 – Sarah Saftich of the Queen’s Gaels looks for a teammate to pass to during a regular season game against the Ryerson Rams. Ryerson defeated Queen’s, 66-61; both teams were tied in the East standings.

2016 02 27 – Queen’s Gaels #13, Sammy Ayisi and Toronto Varsity Blues #14, Wilson Torres try to get the ball before it goes out of bounds during a regular season game. Queen’s defeated Toronto 81-73.

2016 02 28 – A white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) looks out from the forest at Lemoine Point Conservation Area. They are quite tame due to many people feeding them on a regular basis.
