Photography is the documentation of life, once that shutter has clicked, the moment has passed and history is made. Some may be familiar with project 365, a simple concept, take a photograph everyday for 365 days. This blog is an extension of the project; the goal is to keep photographing every day, who knows how long? It is an excellent archive to look back on, see how things change. Change can be subtle, such as different coloured flowers being planted each year to a changing landscape with buildings being demolished and new ones built. This blog archives life’s diversity and my encounters.

2018 Week 04 Photos

2018 Week 04 Photographs
By Corey Lablans Photography
(35th Week, Year 5 – 1701 days – 1 missed)

2018 01 22 – I just opened a box of Magic: The Gathering Rivals of Ixalan cards.

(Nikon D7000 w Sigma 28mm Manual f2.8 @28mm f4 1/60th I.S.O. 200)

2018 01 23 – A pine tree is silhouetted against the setting sun as I drive back to the house in Emo, Ontario.

(Nikon D7000 w 80-400 f4.5-5.6 @240mm f7.1 1/1000th I.S.O. 200)

2018 01 24 – These are small rock fragments (chip samples) collected from the blast holes after drilling. These are used to do a crude geological map of the blast pattern.

(Nikon D7000 w Sigma 28mm Manual f2.8 @28mm f4 1/125th I.S.O. 2000)

2018 01 25 – Glacial deposited material is exposed at the upper portion of the mine. In this photograph you can see material deposited by glacial runoff producing a braided river followed by a period of calm water, either a lake or pond.

(Nikon D7000 w Sigma 28mm Manual f2.8 @28mm f8 1/200th I.S.O. 500)

2018 01 26 – Oil is added to one of the drills operating in the east outcrop. The east outcrop is mostly used for road material.

(Nikon D7000 w Sigma 28mm Manual f2.8 @28mm f8 1/100th I.S.O. 400)

2018 01 27 – Cones indicate where the drills need to drill a blast hole. Blast holes are filled with explosives and detonated, breaking up the rock to be taken to the mill.

(Nikon D7000 w Sigma 28mm Manual f2.8 @28mm f8 1/25th I.S.O. 400)

2018 01 28 – A large shovel removes material to load a hauler while on the 290 bench at the mine. Depending on the grade it is sent to one of many places: the mill, tailing, roadwork or somewhere else.

(Nikon D7000 w 70-200 f2.8 @135mm f5 1/8000th I.S.O. 400)
