2018 01 15 – An excavator cleans the southern wall on the 290 bench at
the mine. The metavolcanics have undergone extensive hydrothermal alteration
and metamorphism, producing beautiful cleavage faces.

2018 01 16 – A dozer and loader work together to fill a haul truck.
There are five main general rock classifications of interest: potential acid
generating rock, non-acid generating rock, low-grade, medium-grade and
high-grade ore.

2018 01 17 – I’m scrubbing a baking sheet the next
morning after making some paprika roasted potatoes and onion; it is important
to always try to keep up on the dishes.

2018 01 18 – A farm fence and tree stand out against the
white snow and sky between Fort Frances and Emo, Ontario on highway 602.

2018 01 19 – A white-tailed deer (Odocoileus
virginianus) stands in a small patch of woods off Lake Road in Fort
Frances, near Point Park.

2018 01 20 – A great grey owl (Strix
nebulosa) keeps a watch over U.S. Route 71 near Big Falls, Minnesota. Their
ears are slightly offset, allowing for more precision in identifying where the
sound is coming from.

2018 01 21 – Peter makes his way along one of the many
snowshoe trails at Rainy Lake Nordic Ski Club east of Fort Frances. They have
many snowshoe and cross-country ski trails.
