Photography is the documentation of life, once that shutter has clicked, the moment has passed and history is made. Some may be familiar with project 365, a simple concept, take a photograph everyday for 365 days. This blog is an extension of the project; the goal is to keep photographing every day, who knows how long? It is an excellent archive to look back on, see how things change. Change can be subtle, such as different coloured flowers being planted each year to a changing landscape with buildings being demolished and new ones built. This blog archives life’s diversity and my encounters.

2014 Week 10 Photos

2014 Week 10 Photos

(40th Week Photographing)

The Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada Conference in Toronto was the most exciting thing this week. It was fun, enjoyed the student luncheon and talked to various geologists with the Ontario Geological Survey. The remaining photos this week were nothing special, whatever I came across.
Sometimes the most exciting photos are unplanned such as the snowy owl. I hadn’t taken a photo for the day, so I wanted to go for a walk. Driving over the Lemoine Point Conservation Area the snowy was flying in the field. You never know what you’ll come across.

2014 03 03 – Ice and snow cover most of the river at Collins Bay as cold temperatures persist. Many of the news stations are saying this is the coldest winter in over two decades.

2014 03 04 – Various members of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) make their way up and down levels at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The annual conference attracts thousands of people from all over the world.

2014 03 05 – One of the shelves displaying minerals mostly collected last summer while working in Bancroft. The three upfront minerals are: Euxenite (Beryl Pit), Feldspar (Bear Lake Diggings) and Apatite (Schickler Fluorite).

2014 03 06 – Cold temperatures persists in Kingston, as ice is seen frozen to muffler of a car in the morning. Temperatures were around -20 degrees Celsius.

2014 03 07 – A peddle and a bit of a bike chain is seen through snow behind the John Deutsch University Centre at Queen’s University.

214 03 08 – A cake sits on the counter that mom made for dinner to go along with our pot roast, called a “Sally’s Hot Milk Cake.” It was delicious, goes very well with ice cream.

2014 03 09 – A snowy owl (Bubo scandiacus) takes off from an evergreen at The Landings Golf Course off Bayridge Drive. The snowy owl is the official bird of Quebec.
