Photography is the documentation of life, once that shutter has clicked, the moment has passed and history is made. Some may be familiar with project 365, a simple concept, take a photograph everyday for 365 days. This blog is an extension of the project; the goal is to keep photographing every day, who knows how long? It is an excellent archive to look back on, see how things change. Change can be subtle, such as different coloured flowers being planted each year to a changing landscape with buildings being demolished and new ones built. This blog archives life’s diversity and my encounters.

2018 Week 11 Photos

2018 Week 11 Photographs
by Corey Lablans Photography
(42nd Week, Year 5 – 1750 days – 1 missed)

2018 03 12 – There are several ways to collect material for gold analysis; one of those ways is to analyze blast hole material, such as this.

(Nikon D7000 w 50 f1.8 @50mm f5.6 1/40th I.S.O. 4000)

2018 03 13 – A sifter separates the finely ground material so only the coarser material can be put through the crusher. Every second rotation I work nights in the lab crushing, rifling and pulverizing samples.

(Nikon D7000 w 50 f1.8 @50mm f4 1/400th I.S.O. 2000)

2018 03 14 – An EMD SD75i makes its way north through Point Park in Fort Frances. It is a diesel-electric locomotive produced by General Motors Electro-Motive Division.

(Nikon D7000 w 80-400 f4.5-5.6 @220mm f5.6 1/1600th I.S.O. 400)

2018 03 15 – A MakerBot 3D printer aligns itself to begin printing at the Fort Frances Library. Today I learned how to use the printer and design with FreeCAD, an open-source parametric 3D CAD modeler.

(Nikon D7000 w 17-35 f2.8 @35mm f5 1/50th I.S.O. 2000)

2018 03 16 – Players at the Fort Frances Library draft the Magic: The Gathering’s Masters 25 set. This 25th anniversary set covers some of magic’s top cards over the past 25 years. I managed to come in second, although I did not do so well across the boarder, I think I came in 5th of 6.

(Nikon D7000 w 17-35 f2.8 @35mm f5 1/125th I.S.O. 4000)

2018 03 17 – A photograph of me watching a Discovery Channel show on an extreme skydiving team. They didn’t hold back on illustrating the dangers associated with extreme skydiving (mountain-flying), in the end a long time jumper dies. Death seems to occur when divers push the limits for increased thrills.

2018 03 18 – The morning sun rises above the Rainy River in Fort Frances, Ontario as I head to Thunder Bay.
