Photography is the documentation of life, once that shutter has clicked, the moment has passed and history is made. Some may be familiar with project 365, a simple concept, take a photograph everyday for 365 days. This blog is an extension of the project; the goal is to keep photographing every day, who knows how long? It is an excellent archive to look back on, see how things change. Change can be subtle, such as different coloured flowers being planted each year to a changing landscape with buildings being demolished and new ones built. This blog archives life’s diversity and my encounters.

2013 Week 39 Photos

2013 Week 39 Photos
By Corey Lablans Photography

Amazing weather dominated this past week. On Monday before work I enjoyed the beautiful weather walking around downtown. The weather remained nice for Saturday’s biogeography field trip to Elbow Lake. Aside from the nice weather, Queen’s hosted a preseason women’s hockey tournament. Here are this past week’s photos:
2013 09 23 – Looking up Princess Street between Wellington Street and Bagot Street, which recently underwent construction. The construction work spanning from King Street to Bagot Street was estimated at $6.5 million according to the City of Kingston website.

2013 09 24 – Grant Hall, completed in 1905 is seen in the background behind ornamental grass. During World War I, Grant Hall was used as a military hospital and as an entertainment centre during World War II.

2013 09 25 – The main framework of the new condominium, Anna Lane Condos, is seen silhouetted against a beautiful sky. For more information check out: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Anna-Lane-Downtown-Kingston-Condominiums/137676346284747

2013 09 26 – Members of Gaels’ Talent Idenfication program, a part of Queen’s Rowing wait outside at the corner of University and Union on Thursday’s to have their photo taken for the Queen’s Journal. Link to story: http://queensjournal.ca/story/2013-09-27/sports/finding-hidden-talents/

2013 09 27 – Mel Dodd-Moher of the Queen’s Gaels keeps her eyes on the puck as teammates try to get it out of the goal line while taking on the Laurier Golden Hawks. The Hawks came ahead in the second period, keeping it up they defeated the Gaels 4-1.

2013 09 28 – Students examine a Jack Pine, as Professor Danby explains how the species has adapted to fires. Under extreme heat the pinecones will open permitting them to establish quickly. Queen’s Geography 318 class was at Elbow Lake studying species diversity and growth patterns over the past two weekends.

2013 09 29 – Morgan McHaffie of the Queen’s Gaels scores on Elodie Rousseau Sirois of the University of Montreal during a preseason tournament at the INVISTA Centre.  Queen’s ended up defeating Montreal 5-2.

Thank you for checking out this past week's photos. At this point in time the theme for next week is squirrels but who knows, it might change.
