Photography is the documentation of life, once that shutter has clicked, the moment has passed and history is made. Some may be familiar with project 365, a simple concept, take a photograph everyday for 365 days. This blog is an extension of the project; the goal is to keep photographing every day, who knows how long? It is an excellent archive to look back on, see how things change. Change can be subtle, such as different coloured flowers being planted each year to a changing landscape with buildings being demolished and new ones built. This blog archives life’s diversity and my encounters.

2018 Week 09 Photos

2018 Week 09 Photographs
by Corey Lablans Photography
(40th Week, Year 5 – 1736 days – 1 missed)

2018 02 26 – A haul truck is loaded while another waits on the 280 bench. The Belaz 75710 is the world’s largest haul truck, with a carrying capacity 496-tones, over twice the size of these trucks.

2018 02 27 – The rising sun shine across some blast hole sample bags ready to be picked up and brought to the assay lab. The material in these bags is analyzed for their gold values in grams per tone.

2018 02 28 – A drill works on a pre-shear pattern in the pit. The pre-shear is important; it helps prevent damage produced by expanding gases from blasts in front. This pre-shear will help prevent damage to the western wall.

2018 03 01 – Increasing spring temperatures have turned a lot of the pit into muck. This water wasn’t there when we did our first run in the morning.

2018 03 02 – Materials outside the assay lab are reflected in melted snow water as temperatures rose to around 6 degrees Celsius. Warmer days are starting to melt the snow but nighttime temperatures still range around -15.

2018 03 03 – A few of the TV box sets and movies I have bought over the past few months. I have been enjoying Deadwood, a western style series that is based on true events in Deadwood, South Dakota.

(Nikon D7000 w 17-35 f2.8 @22mm f4 1/60th I.S.O. 400)

2018 03 04 – This is a variation on a carbonara, an Italian pasta dish. A carbonara typically contains egg yolk and cheese; where as this dish has cream and cheese. It turned out a little gritty, which could have been the result of using grated Parmesan or over heating.
