2017 11 20 – An elephant coin holder is lit by the morning sun. It’s my friend’s fiancé’s and was given to her by another friend approximately 10 years ago.

2017 11 21 – The steering wheel of a Blue Bird spare 72 passenger school bus. I drove the spare bus in the afternoon, as my usual bus was undergoing some wheel maintenance.

2017 11 22 – Workers install a giant wreath outside of the Canadian Tire store off Arthur Street West. The world record for the most wreaths made in 24 hours is by Carolann Naugle of Nova Scotia; making 70 wreaths.

2017 11 23 – Johnathan makes his way towards Lakehead University in preparation for his masters’ proposal. His masters is on understanding the evolution of a carbonatite complex north of Marathon through the analysis of associated silicate rocks.

2017 11 24 – Adam laughs as he finishes up the second game during round two of draft night. We had 10 draft players, so there were four rounds.

2017 11 25 – The remaining evening light glistens off the frozen backcountry road north of Kaministiquia, 50 kilometers west of Thunder Bay. Yesterday’s temperatures were around 6 degrees Celsius and then dropped to -15 over night.

2017 11 13 – Cool temperatures and warm bodies of all the students lead to condensation on the school bus windows. Students enjoy writing messages; in this case I wrote 2017 at the end of the day.

2017 11 14 – A Dark & Stormy traditional Bermuda mixed drink is still separated before Johnathan drinks it. The upper portion is black rum, while the bottom is ginger beer.

2017 11 15 – A Saurus warrior is midway through painting; it will take at least another hour or two to finish. They are a part of the Lizardmen race in Wahammer Fantasy.

2017 11 16 – A few altered Magic: The Gathering cards by one of the customers at Thunder Games and Gifts. Altered cards can still be played if they can’t be distinguished in a pile and don’t hide any key information; it is also to the judge’s discretion whether it can be played or not.

2017 11 17 – The bright colours of the Lakehead University sign stands out amongst the snowy backdrop off Balmoral Street in Thunder Bay. Lakehead University’s primary colours are Blaze (yellow) and Cobalt (blue) followed by Crimson, Laurel, Amethyst and Thunderwolf.

2017 11 18 – A blow-up Grinch, from How the Grinch Stole Christmas, overlooks participants during the 27^th annual Rotary Christmas Parade. This year’s theme was Dr. Seuss. The Grinch first appeared in Dr. Seuss’s 1955 32-line poem called, “The Hoobub and the Grinch.”

2017 11 19 – Sunday night sealed league players are matched in the third round while at the BookShelft. Each week players get one pack and add it to their card inventory; from those cards they can make a 40-card deck.

2017 11 06 – Chicken and onions cook in a frying pan, as Johnathan prepares dinner. The red junglefowl (Gallus gallus) is the genetic progenitor of the domestic chicken. (Progenitor: a person or thing from which a person, animal, or plant is descended or originates; an ancestor or parent.)

2017 11 07 –Agricore United’s grain elevator makes up one of many that dot the Superior shoreline of Thunder Bay. The farm-directed agribusiness originated in central Canada.

2017 11 08 – Johnathan spreads melted butter on a frying pan as he prepares to cook dinner. The average person will consume 28 pigs in their life span according to Bodnant Welsh Foods.

2017 11 09 – Players think through their next move while playing in the Standard League at Thunder Games and Gifts. The league runs for 5 weeks and then the top 8 play in a tournament.

2017 11 10 – A wide assortment of stone beads line a table at the Silver Cove gem and mineral sale in Thunder Bay. Chris and Melissa Robak started the business in 2004. This is the first year they are traveling as far as Ottawa.

2017 11 11 – Chris Robak, one of the owners of Silver Cove, a gem and mineral business, holds a faceted alexandrite from Russia that a customer brought in to show. The chromium ions in alexandrite permit intense absorption of light over a narrow range of wavelengths, it changes colour depending on light source.

2017 11 12 – A deer looks up for a moment while grazing at the Chartwell Glacier Ridge Retirement Residence off Jasper Drive. The word deer in Ojibwe is Waawaashkeshi.

2017 10 30 – Last night’s cool temperature and snow turned Thunder Bay into a winter wonderland. This is a view of a tree line and truck off Owen Road.

2017 10 31 – A full carriage and skeleton coachman are just one of the elaborate Halloween props making up a haunted yard off Westbury Crescent in Thunder Bay. The owners have been decorating their front yard for years, enjoying Halloween festivities.

2017 11 02 – A snowy skeleton holds Ernie from Sesame Street off Mapleward Road in Thunder Bay. Numerous Halloween decorations covered this house’s front lawn. The snow added a little extra character to the scenery.

2017 11 03 – A member of the Ontario First Nations Youth Peoples Council (O.F.N.Y.P.C.) speaks to youth and elders during the first “Youth-Elders Gathering on Climate: Reconnecting with Mother Earth” at the Nor’wester Hotel and Convention Centre in Thunder Bay. Youth and elders met to address climate change and brainstorm ideas on how to approach the issue.
