Photography is the documentation of life, once that shutter has clicked, the moment has passed and history is made. Some may be familiar with project 365, a simple concept, take a photograph everyday for 365 days. This blog is an extension of the project; the goal is to keep photographing every day, who knows how long? It is an excellent archive to look back on, see how things change. Change can be subtle, such as different coloured flowers being planted each year to a changing landscape with buildings being demolished and new ones built. This blog archives life’s diversity and my encounters.

2014 Week 06 Photos

2014 Week 06 Photos

(36th Week Photographing Daily)

At the beginning of the week snow started melting and by the end it was falling. With the change in weather, sporting events and FebFest this was an excellent week for photographing. Melting snow permits unique photo opportunities. Always think outside the box and try to see the world through a different perspective.

2014 02 03 – A student walks by a puddle in front of Freddie’s Grocery at the corner of University Avenue and William Street. Temperatures were just below 0, with so much salt some of the ice was able to melt.

2014 02 04 – Maria makes her way up one of the climbs at the Boiler Room located at 4 Cataraqui Street north of the La Salle Causeway.

2014 02 05 – A student walks down 5th Field Company Lane on Queen’s Campus as another storm passes through.  It coated Kingston in 15 cm of snow and caused another massive pile up on the 401 near Trenton.
(Nikon D7000 w 70-200 f2.8 @180mm f4 1/640th I.S.O. 200)

2014 02 06 – Icicles line the upper level roof of a house off Johnson Street in Kingston. Icicle is derived from two Middle English words “is = ice” and “ikel = icicle,” meaning that icicle is actually, “an ice icicle.”

2014 02 07 – Queen’s Gaels #9 (Gemma Ballard) looks over to a team mate while Ottawa Gee-Gees #13 (Catherine Traer) blocks the net during a regular season Ontario University Athletics game at the Athletics and Recreational Centre. Queen’s won 51-47.

2014 02 09 – Amanda Evora, a two-time U.S. silver medalist and this year’s winner of the Battle of the Blades performs a reutien at Feb Fest. Her skate partner, past NHL player Scott Thornton, was unable to perform due to a back injury.
