Photography is the documentation of life, once that shutter has clicked, the moment has passed and history is made. Some may be familiar with project 365, a simple concept, take a photograph everyday for 365 days. This blog is an extension of the project; the goal is to keep photographing every day, who knows how long? It is an excellent archive to look back on, see how things change. Change can be subtle, such as different coloured flowers being planted each year to a changing landscape with buildings being demolished and new ones built. This blog archives life’s diversity and my encounters.

2017 02 13 – A photograph of my room with my snake tanks holding Striker, one of my two corn snakes (right) and Shimmer, my rainbow boa (left).

2017 02 14 – Raquel gave me this beautiful Valentines Day card and a box of chocolates. The day also happened to fall on one month of being together.

2017 02 15 – An American red squirrel (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) stuffs its face with sunflower seeds in the Owl Woods on Amherst Island. Hudsonicus refers to Hudson Bay where the species was first catalogued.

2017 02 16 – This is a PVC figure of Iris Hartley. She is a character in the game Valhellio, where a war breaks out after humanoid robots are built.

2017 02 17 – The setting sun shines off a pinecone of a dwarf pine in our front yard.

2017 02 18 – Broken up ice creates an interlocking pattern at the Confederation Basin Marina in downtown Kingston as temperatures go above 0 degrees Celsius.

2017 02 19 – A five-pin bowler throws her first ball during a tournament at Club Medd Bowl in Trenton, Ontario. Seven teams, five on each team, competed in the three-game tournament.

2017 02 06 – The Frontenac County Court House was built between 1855 and 1858, with alterations after a fire in 1874. It was designated a National Historic Site in 1980.

2017 02 07 – Ice covers the shoreline of the river at Upper Brewers Locks. Celebrating Canada’s 150th anniversary the Rideau Canal System is free and operates from May 19th to October 9th.

2017 02 08 – One of the most vibrant samples of purple amethyst collected this past summer from Blue Points Amethyst Mine in Pearl, Ontario near Thunder Bay.

2017 02 09 – A snow bunting perches on a branch while being blasted by cold wind on Wolfe Island. These high arctic birds migrate to southern Canada and northern United States for the winter season.

2017 02 10 – A rough copy of a cover letter, I spent most of the day working on paper work for jobs.

2017 02 11 – Two extra large Paradiso pizzas await consumption during a fun horror movie night.

2017 02 12 – My car covered in snow in the back parking lot at Camera Kingston. Approximately 25cm of snow fell throughout the day. Some places along the eastern seaboard saw 16 inches of snow.

2017 01 30 – My mom’s shadow is cast on our garage door as she moves around letters for a Happy Birthday sign.

2017 01 31 – Do Over is a card game in which players are trying to get rid of the cards in their hand. Similar to Crazy 8s or Uno, cards are laid on top of each other in increasing numerical value.

2017 02 01 – The photograph in the birthday card I’m making is one that someone took while traveling in Veradero, Cuba this past December.

2017 02 02 – Various kids have fun amongst ice sculptures at Springer Market Square in downtown Kingston during the first day of FebFest. FebFest is a winter festival Kingston runs every February.

2017 02 03 – Icicles hang from Glen’s shed in Lansdowne, Ontario. Falling icicles kill hundreds of people every year. Apparently Chicago and Russia have some of the highest icicle deaths.

2017 02 04 – A Royal Military College student controls the square puck while a Queen’s student tries to nock it away during the annual FebFest historical hockey game at Springer Market Square. RMC defeated Queen’s 3-1 in the fun game.

2017 02 05 – Royal Military College hockey players leap off Crawford Wharf in downtown Kingston during this year’s annual FebFest Polar Bear Plunge; a fundraising event, raising money for the Special Olympics.
