Sudden drop in temperatures last night (-26 degrees Celsius) has caused frost clumping (Surface Hoar) on the thin ice of Elevator Bay. Frost can form in many different crystal formations, a stunning example of natures art work.

A sudden drop in temperature, a snow storm the day before and the iconic imagery of winters emerges. The high pressure system that rolled in yesterday brought clear skies, permitting the stars to shine bright in the night sky.
A fellow friend and I headed up to Upper Brewers Locks to do some night photography. Standing there amongst the dissolute back roads, limited amount of light, the silence of winter, it has this aura to it. Winter evokes this peaceful tranquility in me, especially when you're away from civilization, where the snow it untouched and pure.

Student's held their hoods over their faces preventing snow, as others didn't mind it, walking with coffees in hand enjoying the beautiful scenery winter has to offer. At some point early Thursday morning freezing rain began, by the time I woke up there was a good centimeter of ice covering everything, if not more. Clearing off my car was quite a bit of work as the thick ice required quite a bit of chipping away. I tried my best to clear all the ice off, including the roof. Clearing the roof quite important, as many drivers merely jump into their car and start driving. As I was headed down Bayridge Road I had my own experience of one of these drivers who did not remove the ice from their roof, a large sheet of ice flew off, dodging the ice I carried on.
