2018 06 04 – Spray-painting some high-grade ore stakes outside the mobile trailer at work. Ore grading is important to minimize loss.

2018 06 05 – Numerous boxes filled with crushed and pulverized rock material fill sea canisters at work. Every sample that we crush is stored for a period of time.

2018 06 06 – The Kajama makes its way along Toronto’s shoreline as people watch on, it is a 165 foot three mast schooner. The Kajama is one of the Great Lakes Schooner Company tall ships, which provide cruises in the Toronto area.

2018 06 07 – Kingston and the Island provincial electoral district changed parties this election voting in Ian Arthur of the New Democratic Party. Ontario took a major change, flipping from the Liberals to a majority Progressive Conservatives leadership.

2018 06 08 – Common starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) take off in flight at Lemoine Point Conservation Area. It is an introduced species, originating in Europe and Western Asia.

2018 06 09 – Members of the Brockville Chinese Dancers perform a Chinese parasol dance at the Riverfront Festival in Napanee.

2018 06 10 – An American red squirrel (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) searches for food near the waterfront at Lemoine Point Conservation Area in Kingston, Ontario.

2018 05 28 – A group of American white pelicans (Pelecanus erythrorhynchos) commingle along the shoreline at Point Park in Fort Frances, Ontario. A group of pelicans can be referred to as a: brief, pod, pouch, scoop or squadron of pelicans.

2018 05 29 – A Common goldeneye (Bucephala clangula) comes in for a landing at Point Park in Fort Frances, Ontario.

2018 05 30 – A portrait amongst the core racks at work. There is over 600,000 meters of core.

2018 05 31 – We apply either silver or red reflective tape to the top of the wooden stakes. Silver is for non-ore based material, while red is for ore.

2018 06 01 – Each ore grade stake takes time to make, checking them so they won’t break easily, painting them, tying flagging tape and put reflective tap on the top.

2018 06 02 – A day of rain has turned many of the benches in the pit into muck. When the drills are working on benches that contain ore a lot of powder is produced, as the material is quartz-sericite schist.

2018 06 03 – Equipment operates on many levels at the mine.

2018 05 21 – The metal pulveriser bowls are used for pulverizing material from the crusher used in fire assay for gold and silver analysis.

2018 05 22 – Two origami cranes and an origami frog I made during a quiet night of work. Rob and I only had one job to process all night; typically we do 5-7 a night.

2018 05 23 – The evening sun shines through a silver maple leaf on Armit Avenue in Fort Frances, Ontario.

2018 05 24 – A self-portrait that I took for Five plus Two, a group on the Project 365 website that assigns selfie themed challenges each week; this week the theme was hands.

2018 05 25 – A mother black bear (Ursus americanus) heads across the road with her three cubs near Shebandawan, Ontario, west of Thunder Bay.

2018 05 26 – Johnathan, Adriane and I came across this little café on Dunlop Street in Thunder Bay called Fox on the Run. We all ordered a soup and sandwich combo, very delicious, nice fresh food.

2018 05 27 – Hiking to the top of Mt. McKay provides a good overview of Thunder Bay; this is a view looking down Edward Street South.

2018 05 14 – I’m uploading the week’s photographs to 365Project, a website were photographers can upload one photograph each day. The goal is to represent each day with a photograph.

2018 05 15 – An unusual expression on my face as I sit down to enjoy a broccoli chicken Alfredo dish for dinner.

2018 05 16 – The three elements that make a good breakfast: bacon, eggs and toast. Bacon increased in popularity during the 18^th century in England, this lead to the first bacon factory opening in Wiltshire.

2018 05 17 – The sample racks in the assay lab are empty awaiting blast hole material for processing. We only had one job to process that night.

2018 05 18 – After a night shift I decided to go to McDonalds for “dinner,” grabbing a Sausage Egg McMuffin and hash brown.

2018 05 19 – I just finished bringing samples in to go in the ovens. The samples will be dried and placed on one of these racks, then crushed and pulverized.

2018 05 20 – I’m picking up blast hole samples from the back of the Ford F350 sample truck. These samples, ranging from 5-14 kg, are processed and analyzed for their gold concentration.
